This graphic depicts $3,818,000,000,000. The stacks are $100 bills and the trucks are to scale. At this posting the debt of the United States of America is over five times that amount ($15 trillion + and counting by the second). You can go to http://www.usdebtclock.org if you want the full second by second, blow by blow accounting. It is absolutely astounding!!!
How can this be sustainable? I’m sure of one thing, if we aren’t preparing ourselves and our families for what could happen in the near future we aren’t doing them any favors. I’m old enough to have heard the stories from my Grandmother, my Mother and her siblings about living through the Great Depression. I don’t want to be a fear monger, but honestly our modern society is nowhere close to being prepared for what is on the horizon.
Sure, I think about earthquakes on the New Madrid, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural anomalies that are prevalent in my region of the country, but this economy has got to be at the top of my list as the most frightening. When this economy completely fails, everything else will pale in comparison.
Washington D.C. is preparing at hyper speeds. They are putting everything in place to control the chaos that will ensue. 2012 has been a busy for the president as he has already enacted the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) January, 2012 and March 16, 2012 the National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order. You can read them for yourself at http://www.whitehouse.gov.
Preparation is the key. My optimistic side wants to ignore the obvious and my pessimistic side keeps directing me to stock up on everything. I’m still smiling though I feel impending failure of America’s economy and economies around the world.
Cheers!
